Out of District

The Walton-Verona Independent Schools accept out-of-district students. Out-of-district students are accepted only under the following conditions:

There is sufficient room in a particular grade (determined by the principal)

The student has completed an out-of-district application with attached transcripts.

The student has at least a ‘B’ average in all Core Content Areas: English (Reading/Language Arts), Math, Science and Social Studies. 

The student has an exemplary behavior record.

The student has an exemplary attendance record.

All criteria is reviewed and evaluated by the school principal. Once accepted as an out-of-district student, the student must maintain the aforementioned criteria and must make timely tuition payments in order to maintain their approved status. 

All out-of-district students are reviewed at least annually by principal. Any student not in compliance may have their out-of-district enrollment status rejected and be required to enroll at within the school district in which they reside.

In order to be accepted, the district of residence must be willing to sign a non-resident contract. The following districts currently do not sign non-resident contracts: Pendleton County, Newport Independent, Campbell County and all out of state districts.

Tuition is charged on a flat fee basis as outlined by the schedule listed below:

1. Tuition is charged on a flat fee basis for all grades as outlined by the schedule above. If the student's resident district does not release state funding the amount of tuition charged will increase by the Total SEEK/ADA as determined by KDE and will be re-evaluated annually.  

2. Tuition rates are as indicated on the table above and were set by the Walton - Verona Board of Education at the 08/25/16 Board Meeting. Rates beyond the 2020-21 school year could change in the future; any changes will be communicated out to parents as they occur. 

3. Payments can be made as one lump payment for the full amount of $1,500 due on September 15th, per semester for 2 installments of $750 due on September 15th and January 15th, or per quarter for 4 installments of $375 as outlined in the schedule above.  If tuition is delinquent, the principal will be notified and the student may lose privileges such as the ability to participate in sports, clubs, school activities, etc. and may be required to withdraw to their resident district.
