SB181

A new Kentucky law Senate Bill 181 (SB 181) now requires school districts to use a traceable electronic communication system to help ensure student safety and transparency between students and school staff school district employees and volunteers.

At Walton-Verona Independent Schools, the Board of Education approved platforms include Class Dojo, Navigate360, Talking Points, SportsYou, Infinite Campus, and Microsoft Office. All electronic communication between students, school district employees and volunteers must go through one or more of these systems. This allows school administrators and parents to monitor or review messages if needed and provide a consistent form of communication.

If parents wish to allow communication outside these platforms, they must sign a district-approved consent form. Without this consent, unapproved communication may lead to disciplinary action for school district employees or limit volunteer involvement.
