In accordance with KRS 158.175, Walton-Verona Independent Schools will begin each instructional day with a moment of silence. During this time, students may reflect, meditate, pray or engage in any other silent activity that does not interfere with others.

According to KRS 158.175:
The moment of silence will last at least one minute, but not more than two minutes.

Students must remain seated and silent, making no distracting displays, so that each student may focus on their own quiet exercise.

School personnel cannot provide instruction or guidance on how students should use this time.

We encourage families to talk with their child(ren) about how to use this time in a way that supports their personal values and well-being. The daily practice is meant to provide a calm, focused start to the day while respecting the individual beliefs of every student.
