Career/Technical

Welcome to the Career and Technical Education Department of Walton-Verona High School. The CTE Department consists of Agriculture, Business, Family and Consumer Science, and Help Desk.

Mission: The mission of the Career and Technical Education Department is to provide students with skills necessary for a successful transition to post-secondary education or work and a desire for life-long learning in a global society.

Purpose: Career and Technical Education is an essential component of the high school curriculum. For many students, it represents as much as a third of their high school experience. It is a critical component in meeting the needs of students in academic achievement, career exploration, career preparation, and leadership development. Successful transition to post-secondary education, work, or the military is one of the goals of Kentucky's educational system. The percentage of students making successful transition is a component of the high school accountability index.

Career Ready: To complete a career major, students must earn four credits within the career major. Three credits must come from recommended courses and include an upper-level course.

A student must be a Concentrator in a career major and receive a related industry certification/EPA/KOSSA to be considered Career Ready. Concentrator--A student who has earned two career and technical education credits in a preparatory program recorded on his/her transcript. Communication between home and school is vital to the success of the education of your child. We hope to see you during the many events throughout the school year. Besides events, we want to encourage you to contact us with any questions, comments or concerns you might have. We look forward to working with you and your child.
